From Deep in the Bush Hello and welcome to “Deep in the Bush”. The G-man has been kind enough to allow me to post a few thoughts of my own. Keep in mind that everything you read in "Deep in the Bush” is my opinion and mine alone. If you have any feedback for me after reading “DITB” you can send it to: ditb@jiin.org. Ga. Tech Ga. Tech pulled a blunder this weekend by losing to Clemson. George O’Leary can take all the blame for this one. While I don’t disagree with going for 2 points in the right situation, the 3rd time he attempted it Saturday afternoon at the Flats was a bonehead move. Tech will now need much help from a lot of different places to regain any shot at all in the BCS. Was there anyone anywhere watching that game that didn’t know Dantzler was going to call his own number on 3rd down in OT?
Atlanta Falcons The Falcons did a very nice job of putting the brakes on Arizona Sunday. Holding David Boston to only 4 catches for 49 yards was the key here. The defense looked good most of the game, amassing 4 sacks and 3 turnovers, with only a lapse on the first series of the second half. Chandler once again remained intact although he was drilled hard a couple of times and once looked a little shaken after a punch in the stomach by one of the Cardinals pass rushers. Surprisingly I thought Arizona played a lousy game concentrating more on dirty tactics and trash talk than actually trying to put points on the board. To Arizona: If that’s the way you intend to play, it will be gratifying to see you get hammered every week this year.
ABC Sports The refusal of the local ABC affiliate to switch to the Ga. Tech vs. Clemson game was a slap in the face to the ACC. Yes the OU vs. K. State game was an exciting finish. Yes, that game had more impact on the rankings in the polls. Yes, it was a slap in the face of the ACC and Ga. Tech in particular; that the hometown affiliate felt that the Ga. Tech fans didn’t deserve to have their game broadcast in its entirety. Instead we were forced to watch 45 minutes of a game between two Midwestern teams that no one really cared about.
Co Bonehead Move of the Day awards to ABC and George O’Leary.
Atlanta Braves While I will be happy to see the Braves make the playoffs for the 10th year in a row ( assuming Philly doesn’t sweep the final series ) I don’t think they are going far in the playoffs. Their play has bounced between ok and shabby all season. Bottom line is that they are simply not a very good baseball team this year. Prediction: Braves out after short series.
57th Squadron Tribes 2 With the exception of the Ga. Tech and Atlanta Falcons games this weekend it was a nice weekend to concentrate on my addiction, namely Tribes 2. While we lost our match with Lock & Load on the www.WorldOGL.com ladder, we played well as Heavy Offense. Our Light Defense and Heavy Defense was virtually non-existent. With the team full of new people we can expect to continue to be mediocre at best until we are all on the same page with the strats. The Firestorm map is a cluster map of huge proportions. It is the Stone Hinge of T2. Desiccator is a map we have owned and will own again. Just a matter of defending our FF Gens and keeping the shield up around the flag.
